Title : A collection of small results about Continuous Time Random Walks on graphs
Abstract :
In this talk I will go through a collection of small results centred around
Continuous Time Random Walks on graphs, or from another perspective generalisations of
continuous time Markov chains. In these cases, the time spent in each state will be
drawn from a general waiting time distribution and recover the usual Markov models when
this is chosen to be an exponential distribution. I will show that it is possible to
construct walks where the governing equations are non-local at first order but permit
higher order local representations. We can show that these cases correspond to the
waiting time distribution being taken as a phase-type distribution. Time permitting, I
will also share some approaches to non-parametric walks. Interestingly, we can show
that using Kaplan-Meier estimators for waiting time distributions lead directly to delay
terms in governing equations
